The Embassy of Belgium in Abuja has opened their Visa Application Centre operated by VFS Global Services Nigeria Limited in Lagos and Abuja, Nigeria. This service is accessible to all Nigerian Nationals and other Nationalities with valid resident permit for Nigeria who wish to apply for a Belgium, Luxemburg, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Estonia Visa.


Belgium is saddled with the responsible for issuing of visa for the following destinations-Belgium, Luxemburg, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Estonia The main destination is which the main destination is Belgium. The Embassy of Belgium can only process short stay visas for the following countries; Netherlands, Estonia and Lithuania.


The Belgium Visa Application Centre in Abuja will process visa applications for Belgium, Netherlands, Luxemburg, Lithuania and Estonia.


The Belgium Visa Application Centre in Lagos will process visa applications only for Belgium, Luxemburg, Lithuania and Estonia.


The French Visa Application Centre in Lagos will process visa applications for Netherlands

If applicants intend to apply for a visa for Belgium, Luxemburg, Lithuania, the Netherlands and Estonia, they are strongly advised to go through the information on their website-.

Visa applying process and requirement for Nigerians

All applicants will submit their applications to VFS Application Centre except the following:
Holders of Diplomatic Passports
Spouses/husbands of EU Citizens. Children of EU citizens.


These groups of people can/will apply directly to the Embassy,



If they willingly opt or prefer to submit at the VFS Visa Application Centre, in which case service charges ought to be borne by the applicant and paid at the Centre only.


Interviews in Belgium Embassy, Nigeria

Submission at any Visa Application Centre does not exclude the possibility of an interview. An applicant may be invited by the Embassy if there is any need for that.


Interviews are compulsory for Student Visas and Family Réunion. Applicants in this group ought to have a mindset on this, as they can be invited anytime for the interview in Abuja.


Applicants are requested to read the following steps cautiously before submitting their application at the Belgium Visa Application Center, Lagos and Abuja.
Step 1 : Applicants are required to submit their application personally at the application centre. In the case of minor, parent or guardian ought to accompany them on the day of submission.
Step 2 : Make a comprehensible copy of every original document, three clear copies of passport data pages and applicant’s every previous visa.

Step 4 : Pay the appropriate visa fee and service fee at the bank teller counter at the Visa Application Centers (Lagos & Abuja).

All Applicants are informed that from, 30 April 2014 new visa fee started becoming effective, as stated in Abuja and Lagos. The fee can be seen in the table below:

The citizens of the following countries ought to pay the stipulated fee: Albania, Bosnia, Former Yugoslav Republic Macedonia, Moldova, Montenegro, Ukraine, Russia and Serbia. 35 8050

Applicant’s that are exempted from visa fee:

Children less than 6 years of age applying for short term visa.
The spouse, children who have not yet reached their 21st birthday and dependent parents of a Belgian or other EU citizen are not required to pay the visa fee.
School pupils, students, postgraduate students and accompanying teachers who undertake stays for the purpose of study or educational training; researchers from third countries travelling for the intention of performing scientific research as stated in Recommendation No 2005/761/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council of 28 September 2005 to make easy the issue by the Member States of uniform short-stay visas for researchers from third countries travelling within the Community for the intention of carrying out scientific research ( 1 );


Important Note :

The appropriate visa fee in Naira is as per current exchange rate. It is subject to alteration without notice.
Naira denomination of 500 & above are only accepted
Visa fee and service fee ought to be paid at the bank teller counter in the application centre only.
The visa fee is non refundable and non transferable.
The visa application fee submitted and cancelled on same application day would be refundable but non transferable.

Also note that the service charge is inclusive of VAT and as well are required to pay the bank charges of 400 Naira’s alongside their visa fee and service fee.


Also note that Visa fee and service fee ought to be paid at the bank teller counter in the application centre, Lagos and Abuja.
The applicant must be in possession of the 1st page Passport photocopy while paying the service fee and the visa fee at the GT bank.
The above fees are non-refundable and non transferable.
The receipt is valid for 30 days from the date of payment and it is non -transferable and non – refundable.
From July 1, 2012, only those living in the Northern part of Nigeria can apply for Netherland Visa in Abuja

Adamawa, Bauchi, Benue, Borno, Gombe, Jigawa, Kaduna, Kano, Kastina, Kebbi, Kogi, Nasarawa, Niger, Plateau, Sokoto, Taraba, FCT Abuja, Yobe, Zamafara.
