NABTEB Examination Board
The National Business and Technical examinations Board NABTEB was established in 1992 to conduct crafts and technical examinations which was then done by Royal Society of Arts of UK in accordance with the National Policy on Education NPE.
NABTEB was one of the examinations bodies set up to reduce the burden of conducting examinations like WAEC. The board conducts the National Technical Examination (NTC), National Business Certificate (NBC) and advance level versions of the following disciplines;
Engineering and construction trades
NABTEB certificates are listed by JAMB as one of the prerequisite needed to gain admission into universities, polytechnics and colleges. NABTEB has also commenced the Modular Trades Certificate Examination (MTCE) which is for persons who need to acquire skills in the following areas:
Motor vehicle mechanics work trade
Catering craft trade
Secretarial studies trade
Book keeping trade

FUNCTIONS OF NABTEB
NABTEB Conducts examinations on the following:
- National Technical Certificate (NTC)
- Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC)
- National Business Certificate (NBC)
- Advanced National Business Certificate (ANBC)
- Modular Trade Certificate (MTC)
Issue results, certificates and make awards in examination on behalf of or in collaboration with other examination bodies or agencies.
Monitor, collect and keep records of continuous assessments in technical colleges.
Prepare and submit an annual report of examination standards and related issues to the Secretary.
Conduct research and publish statistics and results to develop examinations, syllables and tests in business and technical studies.
NABTEB EXAMINATION SUBJECTS
1 English language 001, Mathematics 002, physics 004, chemistry 005 and ICT information communication. Technology 008 is compulsory for technical students while Economics 003 and Literature-in-English 007 are optional for them.
2 Candidates for the below listed trades can offer biology as trade related subjects but technical candidates are not allowed to offer biology.

3 Introduction to building construction 211 is a compulsory subject for candidates offering any of the below trades:
Carpentry and joinery 220
Painting and decorating 250
Plumbing and pipefitting 250

4 English language 001, Mathematics 002, Economics 003 are compulsory for business students while physics 004, chemistry 005, biology 006, Literature-in-English 007 and ICT information communication technology 008 are optional for them.
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR NABTEB EXAMINATIONS
There are four schedules of entry into the NABTEB examinations which are:
a) EA 60: This registration of candidates offering NBTE syllabus in technical trades.
b) EA 61: This is the registration of candidates offering NBTE syllabus in business trades.
c) EA 62: This will be used to summarise all entries and fees paid by all NTC candidates.
d) EA 63: This will be used to summarise all entries and fees paid by all NBC candidates.
HOW TO REGISTER FOR THE NABTEB EXAMINATIONS EA 60 and 61
On the form you will find spaces for the following;
Year: indicate the year the examination is to be taken
Numbering of entry schedules: enter the number of sheets used to register, if you used 5 sheets to register indicate: 1of 5, 2 of 5, 3 of 5, 4 of 5 and 5 of 5 respectively.
Centre code: indicate the centre code of your school or college.
College name: write the name of the college attended, address and telephone number.
Candidate’s examination number; leave blank till you have been given examination number. The examination number should be the same as the one given on the internet during your online registration.
