JAMB Direct Entry

The JAMB Direct Entry Programme also know as D.E. enables students of Polytechnics and colleges in Nigeria to directly study a related course in the University as a Degree Programme without having to write JAMB exam.

However, some institution may require candidates to sit and pass the Post-UTME exams even when you apply as a JAMB Direct entry candidate.

All Candidates who are qualified in this programme are to purchase the jamb direct entry registration scratch card at any of First City Monument Bank Plc (FCMB) or Zenith Bank across the country and follow the registration process online at the jamb official website.

JAMB Direct entry examination dates will be fixed and successful candidate will then proceed to their respective schools to complete registration process. The JAMB Direct Entry registration process usually begins in the month of August in many schools.

Applications for JAMB direct entry are invited from candidates with OND, ND, NCE, IJMB, Cambridge A level, BSc, HND, ICAN into 200 Level in Nigeria universities.

If you have any of the above listed certificate or awaiting result in any of them, you are eligible to apply for JAMB direct entry in any Nigeria universities. Some universities also accept own diploma or diploma from recognize institutions in Nigeria.

If you wish to apply for JAMB direct entry, you should have a scanned/digital passport of not more than three months before filling and submitting the direct entry online form and the UTME results are only valid for one academic session

Visit official JAMB Direct Entry website and to apply. You will need a merit in NCE or Diploma from any recognised institution in related course of study which must include mathematics and English Language.

A piece of advice to jambites; it is said and has been proven that admission success/failure start from application. While this statement is applicable to O level and post UTME application, JAMB application is the most determinant of admission.

Many would-be students fumble their way through application for JAMB direct entry without considering the factors that contribute to success in admission. For instance, in the choice of universities, there are six factors to consider.

These factors when put into consideration are supposed to affect mode of preparation. But because most students do not consider them they loose the admission even before writing the JAMB exam.

These factors include cut-off mark, NUC admission policies, catchment area, university carrying capacity, ELPS among others.

Besides choice of university, choice of course is another factor that has denied millions of students’ admission over the years.

From experience, I noticed that students make the same mistake every year with respect to choice of course when applying for JAMB. There are three factors to consider when choosing the course to apply for.

These factors can determine whether you will be in the 1st, 2nd or 3rd batch of admission or whether you will not be admitted at all. Failure to put these factors into consideration means you have lost the admission during application. The factors include cut-off mark, number of applicants among others.

Another reason why students loose admission from jamb application is wrong combination of UTME subjects. This is especially painful because in most cases, such students would have been admitted already.

There are factors to consider when choosing UTME subjects. This is especially important for non-medical courses. These factors will give you an edge over others especially when you do not fall in the merit list.

It is important to take advantage of your JAMB direct entry application rather than applying for JAMB exam. From every front, it is easier to be admitted through JAMB direct entry than JAMB exam. This is as a result of huge number of candidates writing JAMB exam and the limited space in universities to accommodate them.

Taking a step to a degree program in Nigeria might be seen in different area as the natural accepted trend in our society and in job market. There is ongoing heated debate over how diploma holders are treated in Nigeria. So save yourself from this circular battle and argument, this is your opportunity to use your JAMB direct entry to secure a university degree.
