The chartered institute of personnel management of Nigeria (CIPMN) is a corporate body charge with the duties of determining the standard of knowledge and skill are to be attained by persons seeking to become registered as personnel, management practitioners and raising the standard from time to time, securing the establishment and maintenance of the register of members and publication from time to time of the list of those persons, regulating and controlling the profession in all aspects performing through the council the functions conferred on it.

CIPMN Admission

The CIPMN institute’s professional examination is the ultimate professional qualification for human resource and industrial relation practice in Nigeria. The minimum educational requirement for admission is WAEC or GCE with credit in 5 subjects including English and mathematics.

CIPMN Registration

CIPMN application form should be obtained from the institute’s national secretariat, state branches and CIPMN website (http://www.cipmnigeria.org/). It should be completed and return to the branch for processing. Applicant must posses the requirement listed above.

The CIPMN examinations can only be taken by registered students, members at least 3 months before the examination date. Registered students are expected to pay yearly membership fee to the institute. CIPMN forms for admission and further information can be gotten from African business school (ABS)

CIPMN Exemptions

Foundation 1 is the starting point for holders of WAEC, NECO and GCE. Candidates must have results with 5 credits and shall write all levels of examination.
a) B.A/B.sc and HND holders with a minimum of 5 social sciences (psychology, sociology, business administration, economics, public admin., law. Political science and geography) and business related courses including management and industrial relations, personnel management will begin from intermediate 1.
b) B.A/B.sc and HND( with minimum of two years experience) from other discipline will begin from intermediate
c) B.A/B.sc and HND holders of degree in the areas mention in (B) with minimum of second class lower or lower credit prior to the date of admission shall begin from intermediate 2.
d) Holders of degree example M.A/M.sc/MBA/M.phil/PHD in relevant discipline shall begin from PE 1. Minimum duration is 1 year.
e) Candidates with certificate of the institutes, and process the perquisites 5 credits O’level shall be considered for reciprocal exemptions
f) Holders of higher degree in irrelevant disciplines shall begin from intermediate.

CIPMN Matured Candidates

Candidates above 30 with a minimum of 5 credits at ordinary level and equivalent will star from foundation 2.
Candidates with over ten years experience in personnel functions irrespective of t heir academic qualifications shall begin from intermediate 1.
Those who desire exemptions should send enquires to exemption committee through the institute’s director, membership, branch development and education.

CIPMN Duration

Students are expected to complete all stages of examination within a maximum of 7 years.

Mandatory industrial experiment for 12 months then induction
Conditions for the Award of Diploma and Associate Membership
Candidate must pass all subjects before moving to the next level.
In case a subject is failed such candidates shall be referred in that subject

On the completion of all examination and after satisfying the final professional requirement (FPR/001-004) the candidate will be awarded the professional diploma in human resource management and will be become an associate member.

CIPMN Date of Examination

Examinations are held in the month of august each year.
